Control Participants Needed: individuals with no history of KD and who are not first relatives of someone with a history of KD

The Kawasaki Disease Research Center at the University of California, San Diego, is looking for participants for its Adult Kawasaki Study. Participants with a history of KD and no history of KD are needed. This longitudinal study aims to investigate the long-term effects of KD in adults. The information obtained from the health questionnaires could provide valuable insights into the long-term outcomes for KD patients.

Research Team Update:
As of May 2024, we have successfully enrolled 30 participants with a history of KD in childhood, all of whom discovered the AKD study through the KD Foundation website.

Fast forward to October 2024, and we have an impressive total of 574 participants with a childhood history of KD enrolled in the AKD study.

Our enrollment goal for the AKD study is 1000 participants, and we are excited to announce that we are already over halfway there!

However, we are still in need of control participants: individuals with no history of KD and who are not first relatives of someone with a history of KD. Join us in making a difference!

Requirements:
– Participants must be 18 years of age or older.
– Must have had Kawasaki Disease in childhood.
– Must never have had Kawasaki Disease.

Participation in the study involves:
– Completing two online health questionnaires.
– Optional blood draw for participants in San Diego, CA.
