Celebrating Ava Quinn: A Meaningful Milestone for the KD Community

We are so proud to celebrate Ava Quinn, whose incredible work has recently been featured by the University of Pittsburgh.

Through her graduate capstone project, Ava developed a comprehensive Healthcare Transition Toolkit designed to support young people with Kawasaki disease as they move from pediatric to adult care. This transition is often overlooked, yet critically important. Her work addresses real gaps in care by helping patients build independence, stay engaged in their health, and navigate the complexities of long-term cardiac follow-up. This toolkit is not only thoughtful and research-driven but deeply rooted in the lived experiences of the KD community, and we are honored to help share it more broadly.

Ava’s passion, empathy, and commitment to improving outcomes for others shine through in everything she does. Her work is already making a difference, and we know it will continue to support families and patients for years to come.

We invite you to read the full feature on the University of Pittsburgh’s website to learn more about Ava’s journey and the impact of her work.

Ava, we are so grateful for you and so proud to have you as part of the KDF community.
