KD Champion
KD champions work tirelessly to ensure future KD patients receive timely diagnosis and treatment and have positive outcomes. They advocate for past KD patients through research participation and fundraising to increase funds for KD research. Are you a KD Champion, or do you know someone whose dedicated work to increase KD awareness and support the KD community should be recognized? Then please nominate yourself or someone else to be recognized as a KD Champion.
Do you know someone who:
Works to raise Kawasaki disease awareness in their community, state or national level?
We are looking for individuals whose heartfelt commitment and tireless dedication have increased Kawasaki disease awareness by educating others on the symptoms of KD.
KD Champions work to increase Kawasaki disease awareness at the community, state, or national level. They consistently educate others about the symptoms of KD by staying on top of the latest KD research news and updates. They support families struggling with a KD diagnosis by providing them with factual and valuable resources and information on what to expect with a KD diagnosis. They share their KD experience with others in hopes of increasing awareness and helping future KD patients receive timely diagnosis and treatment.
They have gone above and beyond by distributing KD symptoms and awareness material in their community or have organized an awareness campaign or fundraising event to increase funds for KD research. When possible, they have participated in KD research or signed up their children to participate in KD research to help advance researchers’ knowledge of KD. Some have even volunteered their time via the KDF or other local groups to support an event, an awareness campaign, or support other families impacted by KD via our KDF Bridges program or are frequent blood or plasma donors.
Individuals selected to be KD Champions are featured on our website and other KDF communications. They may be asked to participate in educational symposiums by sharing their work with the KD community. They also receive a KDF KD Champion certificate and gift pack, which includes items from our KDF Store.
Of course! Just complete the nomination form below! If possible, ask a friend, family member, or colleague who is aware of your work to provide a blurb on the work you do that makes you a KD Champion. We look forward to hearing from you!

Michael Lau
After encountering this case of Kawasaki disease, I wanted to spread the information to other colleagues and medical staff who don’t encounter pediatric patients on a daily basis but would also be interested in learning more.
Aubry Shackelford
At the age of five, my daughter Allison was diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease. With a background in engineering, I am hoping to use that to develop an alternative treatment that could heal an aneurysm in cases like my daughters.
