Kawasaki Disease Awareness Day is Today – Wednesday, January 26, 2022!
Twelve years ago, the Kawasaki Disease Foundation requested to have January 26th designated as KD Awareness Day. Senator Jim Webb of Virginia and Daniel Inouye of Hawaii sponsored the official declaration and presented it before the 111th Congress, 2nd session.
This day is significant because, on January 26, 1961, Dr. Tomisaku Kawasaki of Japan saw his first patient with the tell-tale signs of what would later be named Kawasaki disease.
