Meet Ava Quinn: KDF Graduate School Intern
My name is Ava Quinn, and I currently reside in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, having relocated from Conshohocken in 2021. I recently completed my Bachelor’s of Science in Applied Developmental Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh and am now pursuing a Master’s degree in the same field through an accelerated program, with an expected graduation date in April 2025.
As part of my Master’s program, I am engaged in a two-semester capstone project. This project entails identifying a need or problem, designing and executing a project to address the identified need, and evaluating the outcomes. The responsibilities involved encompass conducting interviews, analyzing data, and producing comprehensive reports.
My chosen capstone project involves collaborating with the Kawasaki Disease Foundation to address their concerns regarding the transition of healthcare for Kawasaki Disease (KD) youth into adulthood. Leveraging my expertise in developmental studies of youth and adolescents, I aim to develop a toolkit with pertinent resources to effectively address this transition. This endeavor is particularly meaningful to me as I have a personal connection to KD through a cousin who has been affected by the disease. I am eagerly looking forward to presenting the outcomes of this project to my peers and industry professionals at the University of Pittsburgh in spring 2025.
