Recap of the KDF’s ‘To Save a Child’s Heart’ East Coast Gala

The first east coast KDF gala was one to remember! And quite unexpectedly, the memories began even before our guests arrived. As we were setting up in the rotunda of The Jefferson Hotel, a man stopped in his tracks when he saw a large poster with the KDF logo. “Kawasaki Disease? No way!” Once a foreign name to him, he recognized the name now all too well.

Kawasaki Disease Foundation ``To Save a Child's Heart`` Gala

The 5th Annual To Save A Child’s Heart – Celebrity Chefs Cooking for KD gala was a great success. Guests enjoyed a 5 course dinner with one of the 22 highly acclaimed celebrity chefs participating from all around the country.

The evening began at 5:00pm with the VIP cocktail reception with celebrity and KD parents, Gary Busey and Sarah Chalke along with Chefs Nate Appleman, Amanda Freitag and Gerard Craft.

3rd Annual “To Save A Child’s Heart Gala Success!

Celebrity Chefs from around the country set their tables in San Diego for the 3rd Annual “To Save a Child’s Heart” Kawasaki Disease Foundation gala on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad, Calif.

New York Celebrity Chef and KD parent Nate Appleman teamed up with “To Save a Child’s Heart” gala Co-Chairs Comischell Rodriguez and Jenn Phillips to bring a culinary experience to San Diego like none other.

KD Families: Their Stories Calen Page

A committed group of people in Big Rapids, Michigan are working to raise funds to support KD Research in the Quest for a Diagnostic Test. For many children, having a diagnostic test is the difference between life and death. It would have been for my beautiful son Calen James Page. This picture (see insert) was taken the weekend before he died from complications from Kawasaki’s Disease.
